The first year of this course covers all of the ‘off the job’ training components of an apprenticeship in furniture making – cabinet making under the Australian new apprenticeship system. This qualification is designed to meet the needs of workers in both the ‘free standing’ furniture and the ‘flat panel’ sector (kitchen and bathroom manufacture) industries. The training covers a broad base of skills from drawing through to construction and completion of a variety of furniture items.    

The second year then covers the requirements to obtain the Certificate IV in Furnishing Technology. This qualification is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in production management, supervision ore planning or product development within either of the furniture manufacturing industry – free standing or flat panel sectors. The training covers design principles, production processes, planning and purchasing and manufacturing methods and technologies
